Verdex

The Future of Hyperlocal Green Infrastructure, Powered by Communities

Problem

Urban environments are facing a severe green space crisis. From air quality to mental health and food insecurity, the lack of local green infrastructure compounds a host of environmental and social issues. Traditional urban greening initiatives are often top-down, bureaucratic, and opaque, leaving out the very communities they aim to help.

Solution

Verdex is a Web3-native platform designed to decentralize and democratize the way we build green infrastructure in cities. By enabling anyone to propose, vote on, and fund micro-scale green projects, Verdex transforms passive residents into active stewards of their environment.

How It Works

  • Project Proposals: Community members submit proposals for green projects (e.g., vertical gardens, micro-forests, aquaponics).
  • Tokenized Voting: Residents and supporters vote using eco-tokens, ensuring democratic decision-making and preventing greenwashing.
  • Transparent Funding: All funding is managed through smart contracts, ensuring every dollar is traceable.
  • Impact Tracking: Integrated IoT and satellite imagery feed into a public dashboard to track biodiversity, CO2 absorption, and other metrics.

Why Now

With increased urbanization, growing climate anxiety, and a generational shift toward decentralized governance and sustainability, Verdex taps into three rising trends: urban resilience, blockchain transparency, and community-first design.

Market Opportunity

Over 4.4 billion people live in cities globally, and urban greening is now a $1.5 trillion market. Verdex aims to capture a slice by focusing on grassroots micro-infrastructure, where traditional players have limited reach and community engagement is critical.

Business Model

  • Commission on funded projects
  • Subscription API access to environmental impact data
  • B2G partnerships with municipalities
  • Token utility and staking for DAO governance

The Ask

We are raising $1.2M in seed funding to build our MVP, onboard pilot communities in 3 global cities, and finalize partnerships with environmental NGOs and city councils.
